pad/compound combination

Mike
Thanks for answering me back. I really appreciate it. Thanks so much for all your help.

Working on maintaining daily drive. Also just wanted to know how people like you Mike know what polish or compound goes with what pad. Also do certain brands work well with other brands. Thanks
Since you are just starting out and it's only a daily driver start in the middle.
My suggestion is to only buy one type of pad - a high quality yellow foam pad, and some brand finishing polish. Dr. Beasley's NSP 45 is very forgiving and works quite well, Sonax Perfect Finish is another standout option, as well as Meguiar's 210 / Griot's BOSS Perfecting Creme if you want something locally. See how far you can push that one combination while working on your technique. Are you going to correct 99% of defects? No.

Experiment with pressure/speed/number of passes. Not satisfied with the results? Use the same stuff and do it again. Once you have found the absolute limit to the ONE pad / polish combination; then determine where you need to go from there.

One type, quantity / size of that specific pad is up to you. You may need more than one to do an entire car - the point being don't change the type of pad or polish until you can see for yourself the results achievable with it.

I was asking how many pads because I just don’t know if one pad would do a whole care.
I like your suggestions to me as a beginner I am totally going to listen to it and follow it.
How much experience do you have. Just asking. I appreciate your help

Just asking: is there any way to still get any of the books you have written or you can’t get them any more. Thanks.
