I would go 320 - 400. A good primer always helps and a decent clear coat to top it off. It’ll look better than what you started with as long as it’s flat.
Get it as flat as possible, I’ve just seen horror stories about the “name brand” chrome paint simply looking grey etc, Chrome obviously can’t be duplicated with paint but maybe it’ll get the job done for what it is…
