    Not a good sign

Hold onto your hats! It's back up, with all the old content. As predicted, bookmarked threads don't work (as of right now). Going to try to log in. EDIT: logged in first shot EDIT EDIT: as Mike predicted, looks like the pictures aren't working (as of right now) EDIT EDIT EDIT: Well, I...

    Not a good sign

I just realized something in another thread, I think this also happened when Autopia got merged, that if you have bookmarks to old AGO threads, or even links within posts there to other threads, that they are not going to work now with the new software. Between that and the picture issues...

    Older ceramic coating

I don't know if you remember this, but over at AGO for a while a guy was posting who was a chemist at a detailing product blender in the UK, who along with some testing from SwanicYouth, kind of "proved" that Dawn and a lot of other things can "clog" (at that time) waxes and sealants, and make...

    Not a good sign

Guilty as charged! Actually, I came up with the idea for that user name out of frustration when trying many variations of whatever more pedestrian user name I was trying to use at a large email site, and they were all taken--and I said to myself "everyone has too many secret(s) email addresses"...

    Not a good sign

It looked like most of the people that were joining were spammers, along with a few impatient members. FWIW they have a message up now that says: "Sorry, we're currently unavailable. Site Upgrading is in progress, we will be back soon. Thanks for your patience."

The Foam That Polishing Pads Are Made From

Just to make this more interesting, poking around I find that Koch Chemie has pads, 5 different levels of aggression....and the foam is black on all of them--however, the velcro backing is a different color on each, keyed to a matching polish which has that color on the bottle (not sure if the...

The Foam That Polishing Pads Are Made From

B&S says this, which doesn't really explain anything: "We make up to six grades of foam pads; each represented by a different color. Early on, foam buffing pad colors were standardized, however, more colors were added to the mix and now there is a broad band or examples. Yellow, black and...

The Foam That Polishing Pads Are Made From

My theory is this: Pad Manufacturer: "I need 1000 square feet of 2 lb/sq ft density closed cell foam" Foam Manufacturer: "sure, it comes in orange" Pad Mfr.: "um...that's going to be confusing because our other pad that's 1.2 lbs/sq. ft. density open cell is also orange" Foam Mfr.: "well, if...

The Foam That Polishing Pads Are Made From

Mike, Maybe you know the answer to this question. Forever, people have been frustrated that the colors of pads are not consistent between pad manufacturers, and even within the same manufacturer's line. I noticed that the Lake Country Force Hybrid orange is considered a cutting pad, and is...

    Not a good sign

I know the photo gallery at Autopia hasn't been working for a long time, but on AGO it was, so maybe the photos will work there--but I won't hold my breath. Time to thank you again for keeping this forum under your auspices, I'm sure it nags at you seeing all that content you created at MOL and...

    Not a good sign

They have a very basic main page up now--will they be able to migrate the existing AGO content to XenForo, or is it going to have to be a clean sheet?

    Not a good sign

I wonder if they are going to do the same thing with Autopia or whether that is going to go away along with the store. I think that is probably a more challenging migration due to how many other forums got folded in there and old vB hacks from the original owner.

    Black car washing

Off-topic: Nice Avanti! I used to see a copper-colored one around here many years ago. A couple of years ago I saw a white 4-door--I'd never seen a 4-door before! I had to look it up and they only made about 100 of them (not that they made many Avantis at all).

He was always really good with the forums so I presumed he wasn't there anymore (since there were forum problems) after PBMG pulled out of Florida.

    Black car washing

I would phrase it as the wash media and drying towels should be washed before a black car wash. I personally always wash my wash media and drying towels after one use, and even if I'm washing 2 cars consecutively, use a fresh wash bucket and fresh media/towels for each. But I'm a hobbyist and...

    Not a good sign

Just to add a little background...before the "database error" at AGO, there was a message under the normal AGO header/banner to the effect of "the board is down for backup and software updates", so I would assume that's what is going on...of course I believe that was last Wednesday, so things...
