Great advice. It was fairly humid in my garage. I looked for a good video to explain how to apply the 3D ceramic. The instructions said to wait if it feels oily, which it kind of did most the time, but if I waited 20 seconds longer it was tacky and impossible to work with. It was so oily I...
I'm no expert! And doubt I'll ever arrive, but I have done a handful of vehicles. Yeah after some googling it seems the BMW forums all talk about how hard that clearcoat is.
I'm sure I just need to wrap my head around that and then I'll love it. She blinging from a distance and she's protected...
I finally caved and called it haha. Not my style but I needed to drive her. I don't believe 3D one is aggressive enough with a cut pad for my alpine white bmw. We used to have to use menzerna with an orange pad and a dewalt rotary to have a big impact on this clear coat.
I did 2 passes with...
Got her mostly polished. I have some micro scratches left that I thought might have been pad inflicted but I’m thinking not as I just went back over with a yellow rupes instead of the orange cutting and they still there. Trying to decide if I can somehow live with it and put the ceramic on...
Hmmmm griots told me to use speed shine as a panel wipe before ceramic coating. Seems like it has a lot of lubricants and stuff it leaves behind, was that a good recommendation on their part?
Awesome, appreciate the feedback so far! I’m going after it this weekend and can’t get the 3D wipe in time, but I have a griots close by and will stop by and grab some paint prep or whatever their latest panel cleaner is.
How about a favorite pad cleaning method?
At Mike's recommendation I am planning to go after my daily driver this weekend with some 3D one and then top it with 3D ceramic (never used either before, i previously used Menzerna polishes and the DP paint sealant). I had to park my car outside for a bit and it's been a month since she's had...
I’ve done a similar menzerna process in the past, I’ll be using 3D one here in the next few weeks! Anxious to try it! If you haven’t gone for it by then, I’ll let you know my thoughts.
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation. I've got the 6" backing plate.
I've never used and AIO, always done a few steps on my vehicles, more recently was some of the Menzerna line.
A little skeptical about AIO, 🙈but also excited at the idea of cutting the time down.
Thanks for the...
Mike, for reference I have 2 Alpine white BMW vehicles. Use a CBEAST and your recommended pads.
As of today:
If you had to recommend a one step/AIO for someone just looking to work on their own vehicles what would it be right now?
And same question but if a personal vehicle might need a...
