There are so many car wash products available, and a lot of them are very expensive. I’m kinda confused about what to use. Both of my cars have a ceramic coating. Is a car wash product made for washing cars, ph neutral, no other additives ( wax, etc.) good enough? Or should I use the wash recommended by the company that made the ceramic coating?
Thank you.

This is not a comprehensive reply... but here is my opinion:

Is a car wash product made for washing cars, ph neutral, no other additives ( wax, etc.) good enough?
It should be fine, as long as you wash "properly" and "often enough" (i will talk more about these two things at the bottom of this post)
Or should I use the wash recommended by the company that made the ceramic coating?
I would do this, unless you have a reason not to (maybe other products are cheaper, easier to use, etc.)

I say this because it is more likely that the products will work together well.

About washing "properly" and "often enough"... others will probably explain this more but...

Washing properly:
  • Make sure whatever you are washing/drying with is clean (not contaminated).
Washing often enough:
  • This depends on how often, when, and where the car is used and stored.
  • Try to get certain things... like bird droppings and tree sap off the car as soon as you can.
Good luck

Hi JohnT,

It is always best practice to go with whatever product the manufacturer recommends. However, I completely understand the cost aspect of products. If you are looking for a cost effective alternative and live in the US, Meguiar's D110 Hyper Wash can be purchased locally at harbor freight for less than $30 a gallon.

Hope this helps.
