Well I ordered a new backing plate.
I am wondering if I can take that bolt off pull out the stem/threads and then install the new backing plate. I have had this unit over 10 years! I forget the set up.
Help/ suggestions, Thanks Nick

There should be a spindle wrench that came with the polisher, if not, I think 9/16" will work. Then for the stud portion, grab onto it using a vice grip.

At least by just looking at the pictures, I think this will work?

Thank God For Mike!
Wish I could meet you!
One more question, how do feather in the new paint so I don't have a hard tape line? Roll the tape so there is sorta a canapé?
Spray very light ! Then polish?
The issue is the old clear and the color?
When I start sanding the color it turns lighter in color. Will the new clear cover the lighter color??? Make sense???

Nick

I am using this project to learn!

You ask a great question, but this question is out of my experience ability. Sorry.

I'm sure whatever results you end up with will be better than how it started out.

There's always the STP sticker patch.
