Hello everyone! First time posting in this community. I purchased some Super Wheel cleaner from 3d about a month ago and am just getting around to using it. I detail hammered wheels all the time and haven't been able to find something that cleans wheel barrels and the satin black wheels you commonly find on ram pickups. Would this wheel cleaner be safe to use on every wheel? I can't find much information or testimonials with it. I know not to keep it on the wheel for long, especially in Florida, but wasn't too sure what I should be careful with.

Welcome!

I have never used that wheel cleaner. It says it’s safe for painted and clear coated wheels. Most modern factory wheels typically are clear coated. I would think that factory satin rims on a ram are clear coated.

I have only used 3d yellow degreaser on wheels, but it’s not safe on aluminum wheels.

Maybe Mike or someone else will chime in.

Hello everyone! First time posting in this community.

Welcome to my forum, I try to be on here as much as possible, I'm happy to say I'm not on here much because I'm so freaking busy! Either creating new content or actually walking the talk and detailing cars.

I've never used that product. I know from first hand expereince, their 3D Yellow Degreaser stains bare aluminum rims because they staineid the wheels on the Batmobile when I detailed it at the 3D traininig cneter in Santa Clarita, California. (I have the pictures), I brought this to everyone's attention that I though should know at 3D and the concensu internally was it's not a problem. But this is why I stopped using the 3D Yellow Degreaser for any polished or uncoated aluminum rims.

It's hard to find anyone at 3D to talk to, that like me, actually details cars and thus can speak intelligently about their products. I brought a forum up for them but they killed it and even if the didn't kill it, they don't have a Mike Phillips any longer that can type and talk intelligently about their products. They even closed their FB Group.

Best thing to do is test it out on only ONE rim and see what happens. I'm sure if the rim is painted it will be fine. If something does go wrong - at least you've only damaged one rim.

Thanks for the info. I like their products but have to agree with you, its hard to get any answers from them. It's like they make detailing products but have no interest in selling them.

I use 3D Super Wheel Cleaner pretty regularly at regular, double strength. On clear coated wheels I have has zero issues. I have not tried it on anything other than OE wheels. Its a good bang for the buck wheel cleaner that you can dilute to a strength that fits your detailing style. As Mike preaches do a test spot and see what happens. I say I use it at double strength because there has been times where regular strength wasn't enough so I did one extra pump of concentrate and it worked much better.

With all that said though, once it is gone I will be searching for something else. I really liked Meg's Non Acid wheel and tired cleaner. It was strong enough and the right PH to be a good multi use product, and the price for a gallon isn't terrible. Like a lot of detailing products, if you uses things regularly they go on sale. When they do, stock up.
