Almost all of my machine sanding is done on headlights, and when I started doing that I would use the Meguiar's Unigrit hook and loop 3" discs, some of which were foam backed.
Meguiar's got out of that business, I guess because their parent 3M, who I believe is the largest abrasives manufacturer in the world, is in the same biz. Mirka seemed to become a popular option, along with the 3M Trizact pads.
Now it seems that both the 3M Trizact and the Mirka Abralon are no longer widely available. I'm not sure if this has to do with market changes or tariffs or what, or if I'm just looking in the wrong place.
I see Rupes now has a wide range of sanding discs, no doubt because Jason Rose has seen to that. I also see a lot of no-name discs on Amazon. I also see Mike Phillips is using Eagle Abrasives by Kovax.
What say the forum on what is the current successor to the Meg's Unigrit sanding discs?
