Thanks BKeets3 and The Gus for your input.
The coating is coming up to the 3-year mark in September. The dead spot is under the bed cap trim but only a small section, the rest of the 3D coating has been perfect. I have used my W.E.T.S. on the trim previously but looks like something dripped...
Mike,
Reaching back into your past product experiences with 3D Coating and time with Autogeek products, can you give some thoughts on this problem of a solvent dripping onto a ceramic protected surface.
I used the Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant on the top cap trim on the bed of my F150. It...
On a follow-up I thought I would show everyone the products used during the process. Using YouTube video's is great to find out things and let others give you tips and suggestions. Each is specific to their own needs and while some things are similar I find out what works for them is often not...
***Update***
I was unable to run into Fellers for the Rapid Remover but was able to find that Xylene worked wonders to loosen the bond between the PPF and the adhesive layer. Problem with Xylene is avoiding the seams that hold the solvent and under high temps over 95-degrees. Lesson learned...
Thanks Mike and to Russel's suggestions. I did find that Xylene (thinner for Expoxies/Enamel) was able to soften the adhesive but not quickly either. I will hunt down the Rapid Remover product local and if not will order from Amazon. So far I have removed the entire front section off this...
Petescoffee (Dave),
I have a 2018 KR F150 so doubt you will have any trouble finding products for the interior cleaning and protection.
Key to keeping it great is use an interior cleaning product and leather cleaner first and frequently. Not sure if they really are wood but any wood inside the...
Wow, but once again you stay with leading companies that have proven products and room for growth. Glad to see this connection and still looking forward to more classes taught by the experience Mike Phillips....
Thanks, any tips are appreciated for this very slow process.
I do know that Ft. Myers has a shop that specializes in this service, UGLY Shield Removal. They sell a adhesive remover but at $200/gallon I think I will keep searching for more options.
How to remove ancient dried and hardened PPF Adhesive on a Motorhome RV Frontend
I started this project to remove the 10-year old PPF film off the front of the Fleetwood coach. Using steam and plastic razor blade to PPF film ( tearing off a small section at a time). However the cracking and...
Thanks Mike, I was really looking forward to this forum to grow again and get more readership! Looking forward to buying more products from the Autoforge.net once I thin down my stash from your past....LOL
Yes, I would be interested in learning more from Nick's Ozone experience, just hate...
Does anyone have products or methods to help eliminate that smoker's smell from a used vehicle?
At MTE OdoRize from Florida was touting their products as a way to kill that smell. I have seen no strong reviews to trust...
WG Product Line
I know that a few vendors do offer a chemical "odor...
I was asked about services on a newly purchased vehicle to address the dull paint finish on this 2012 Mazda -3. I was able to inspect and found the paint in various conditions but saw what I thought was clear coat failure hazing and then the paint was just dull from sun exposure. I had to make...
Just update anyone reading this after the first post. I ended up going aggressive but tried Comet and was working but a slow method. Tried the kitchen Soft Scrub product and it work better with a bug sponge or the Stoner Wheel Cleaner Pad. One thing on the black scum found on the top, a...
Looks like a disaster exterior detail is my project for the week. This vehicle has sat outside under trees for so many years and now the owner is asking for a small miracle. Surface beside being just grime ridden is showing micro cracking that I assume is a form of clear coat failure...
Hi JohnT,
I have used the Wheel Woolies Boar’s Hair Wheel Brush in Mike's detailing classes and these are perfect to use on that grill or the wheels. You can find these at many detailing suppliers, I checked at at this time they are not showing in the 3D online store yet. The next option...
On this topic of using the Mother's PowerCone 360 polisher (foam tool) I want to know any tips on cleaning out the old spent polish that is in the foam itself. That grey slime is hard to wash out and not good on the customer's driveway, do not ask about that complaint.
Sadly the owner did not know how to care for them and as seen the brake dust and road grime bonded to both sides of the wheels. This was a wheels-off service that I estimated based upon the photos of 1.5/hours per wheel. First one took me 2.5 hours and was not encouraging in the final result...
I have a inquiry for a new customer with American Racing BAJA polished aluminum that have been neglected and need a polish. Ideally I think they would need some type of protection and was considering using a ceramic coating, I have used Carpro DLUX for modern clear coated wheels. After seeing...
Here is the only two photos I took before using the 3D One polish. This was a new car that had something applied at the dealer as it beaded water during the prep-wash steps. I wanted only to use a light polish to remove any wax or sealant applied by the dealer. Easy to use and remove and...
