Mike I am dropping off the car for some minor work. I think you said in the past don't have them wash the car? Is that correct?

Generally speaking, outside of bodyworks and paint work, most body shops don't have new, or clean, or uncontaminated wash mitts or drying towels to safely wash cars.

I know some body shops wash cars they work on simply to ensure when a customer picks up their car the car as an overall, clean, finished appearance. So maybe ask them if they wash cars and if they say yes, let them know you do all your own detailing and it's okay to skip the wash job, you'll do this when you get the car home.

I will tell you this, the most COMMON place to get overspray on your car is a body shop. Most people think they only spray paint in the paint booth, but this isn't true. They spray primer, guide coats, basecoats and clearcoats outside of the paint booth. If your car is in the area, there's always the chance you'll get accidental overspray on it.

It's pretty much impossible to avoid. So, after you get the car back and wash it, after washing and drying, do the baggie test to body panels, the glass, etc.

And of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. Some shops have plastic car bags they place over cars in their shop to protect jobs before or after work is done.

Best of luck...

Well it can't be a bad body shop there were 3 Ferrari's being worked on !
the cars did have plastic covers over them.
I must assume if overspray , clay bar then re wax the car but not the areas painted .
Thx Nick
