My long-time friend, Chris Metcalf will be at the Future of Detailing: Advanced Paint Correction Clinic lead by @mikephillipsreal! Chris pulls from a deep well of experience with paint correction techniques and equipment to give students the skill and knowledge they need to produce consistently amazing results when reconditioning automotive paint. What is the Future of Detailing: Advanced Paint Correction Clinic? FoD: APC is a 2-Day course in high level correction skills taught by detailing legend Mike Phillips. During the clinic students will learn how to take a car’s finish to its maximum potential with a variety of different methods ranging from simple 1-step corrections to machine sanding for a true show car finish. Thursday Topics
MULTI-STAGE PAINT CORRECTION & CERAMIC COATINGS
This is the first class on Thursday starting at 8:00am sharp. Students will learn how to correctly use a rotary polisher with a wool cutting pad to do the major correction step on cars in horrible condition. This is followed with learning to use orbital polishers to maximize gloss and clarity. After the paint correction steps, students will learn how to correctly install a ceramic coating.
1-STEP PAINT CORRECTION & CERAMIC COATINGS
This is the second class session on Thursday. Students will learn how to correctly use orbital polishers with foam pads to do one step paint correction on cars in good condition. The first class and this second class are designed to teach students how to perform different paint correction packages as either a part of their business model or for your own cars. After the paint correction steps, students will learn how to correctly install a ceramic coating.
Friday Topics
MACHINE DRY SANDING & CERAMIC COATINGS
The second day of class covers how to use the Eagle Abrasives/Kovax Machine Dry Sanding System. Students will learn how to use 6" and 3" sanding discs to level orange peel and other surface texture to maximize D.O.I. or Distinction of Image for a show car finish. After sanding, students will use the skills they learned on Thursday for using a rotary polisher to remove 100% of the sanding marks. This is followed with using the skills learned on Thursday for how to use orbital polishers to maximize gloss and clarity. After the paint correction steps, students will learn how to correctly install a ceramic coating.
