Hello everyone!
I am fixing road rash on a chrome rim
I just used metal filler waiting to cure.
I will sand and shape, will use a primer then spray with chrome paint. Should I apply a clear after then polish?
Thanks Nick

Work in progress, it was bad road rash!
Thanks Nick

Lots of heavy deep scratches and rust was forming, I have let the filler cure, I sanded down the area with 340 grit sandpaper and a dremel flat wheel same grit .
I will probably use a higher grit sandpaper then two light coats of color?
Then let it cure overnight

I know it won't be perfect unless I send it to get re chromed.
Get it as flat as possible, I’ve just seen horror stories about the “name brand” chrome paint simply looking grey etc, Chrome obviously can’t be duplicated with paint but maybe it’ll get the job done for what it is…

Yes I know about paints . I build and restore
Wood model ships. In the evening.'
Thanks for the tip making sure it's flat.
I don't if I will put a primer on?
What grit sandpaper you suggest before painting?

I would go 320 - 400. A good primer always helps and a decent clear coat to top it off. It’ll look better than what you started with as long as it’s flat.

I eneded ordering a new wheel. there was alot of rust on the orginal wheel.
A small fortune!. Thank you for everyones help!
