What lights do y’all use for paint correction?

What light is best on white paint for ceramic coating? When I get a chance I’m going to ceramic coat a buddy of mine white truck.

I’ve only ceramic coated one vehicle, so it will be good practice for me to start offering to customers. Thx

I've always used SCANGRIP hand-held lights to inspect the paint,

Before the paint correction steps.
During the paint correction steps.
After the paint correction steps.
During the panel prep steps.
During and after the actual installing of the coating.

White paint is definitely more challenging but with a good hand-held inspection light you can get the job done without any high spots.

In the new Dr. Beasley's O.R., we have high bay LED lights and they do a great job of revealing swirls and scratches. They also show polish smears really well.

Thanks Mike, I’m working to see if I can get down to Stuart in Nov for class, hopefully it will work out.

I have a 1965 Ford Galaxie resto-rod with a custom paint job and lots of orange peel for the dry sanding class on Saturday. I'll share a picture of as I get time, installing a coating on a 2023 Corvette 70th Anniversary C8 HTC right now.

No other class like it.

I made a DIY light stand from instructions off the internet. I'm cheap like that!

I like having a relatively small but bright stand i can move around the vehicle as i go. More passive than actively checking with a handheld light after i'm done with a section. I can then see the results immediately after wipe off.

I play with the angles for whites and some silvers but it works great.

Some years ago i flirted with the idea of outfitting my garage with a bunch of light (ceiling, sides), upping my electric breaker panel etc. but found the small, moveable stand works perfect for me. Plus i don't light up the whole vehicle for just the area i'm working.

I’m the same way, I want to creat something with wheels on it to roll around, just have to figure the best light and lumens.

I do like having a handheld light, use it for roofs and certain areas of car or boat. One day we I can I probably get a scangrip handheld.
