As I get older, (and lazier), I was thinking of having two cannons ready to go. One with Griots Surface wash and the other with Griots PolyGloss. Rather than having to stop, unscrew the head, screw it on a rinse bottle, rinse it, unscrew it and put it on the PolyGloss bottle, unscrew it, put it on the rinse bottle, then rinse and let it drip dry.

I'm wondering if not rinsing them will eventually damage them.

Thoughts? Thanks.

When I get questions like this, I like to frame them in extremes. That would look like this,

Will leaving car washing chemicals in foam cannons over time help or improve the mechanical parts of a foam cannon?

Then, the follow-up is to answer the question, and in my opinion, over time, leaving chemicals in foam cannons won't help the mechanical components. So what's the opposite meaning of the word "help"?

In the bigger picture, my guess is both those chemicals, (products), are probably fairly anemic to the metal and inorganic components inside of a foam cannon and likely won't cause any harm.

You could remove the nozzles and flush them out with water then re-attach and store the cannons.

I use two cannons, one for pre-soak and another for my contact wash. I Don’t worry about cleaning them, no problems to this point.

like mike says...best to flush them out, but if harsh chemicals and such are not being used then i would not worry to much about it.

interestingly enough just yesterday i was using one of my ik multi sprayers that has iron remover in it, the other ik multi has a cut mix of 3d yellow degreaser. They always get depressurized after use but always have product in them, and the ik with iron remover in it started to act up yesterday. It started to have intermittent trigger spraying issues.

So one could guess constant storage of certain chemicals will eventually have a affect.
