After applying Gyeon Cancoat EVO ceramic coating, the towels that are used to finish wiping it off. Are those towels trash? Did know if the residue left on the towels will harden up?

There's some strong opinions about this topic, I'll give you my take.

First - unlike the masses, I never buy a new washing machine. Why? Because they don't clean, at least they don't clean like an old school washing machine. What I do is contact the local appliance repair business in my hometown, (most towns have a business like this), I tell them I want an old school top loading, Maytag Speed Queen with an AGITATOR that goes NUTS.

This type of washing machine gets the job done.

Now let me explain,

When it comes to ceramic coating towels, you have two choice,

1: Throw them away after use.

2: Wash them and try to clean them.

If you have a high efficiency front loading washing machine. Forget it. It's not going to clean your towels. If you have a top loading washing machine with a VANE, forget it, it's not going to clean anything.

What I do is immediately after use, I run a small wash load, in my Kenmore 600, with an agitator that goes nuts. After the towels come out of the dryer, I inspect them both visually and tactically with my clean hands. As long as the towel looks and FEELS soft, I fold them, store them and use them again.

So what you can do depends on what kind of washing machine you have. If you choose to dispose of your towels, then find a inexpensive, but quality microfiber towel.

Not sure if the above helps, but that's what I got.

I just now seen the link! I wish I knew how to delete this post!

Yes.

BUT - I've seen NEW top loading washing machines with agitators BUT the agitator moves very slowly, as in, it doesn't go nuts.

I'm in the middle of washing all the buffing pads from the recent November class, lots of foam pads, lots of wool cutting pads, and they are all coming out like brand new. Next will be the towels.

My son has one of the old school ones I wonder when finished if I threw them in a bucket of soapy water till I went to his place to wash them. Think that would be ok?

Yes, placing dirty towels into a clean bucket with some water and maybe a little laundry detergent to soak until you can get them into the washing machine can't hurt.

I do the same thing here. I also do this with buffing pads, but I use my slop sink.
