Course Description
We all love the smooth feel of a free-spinning random orbital polisher, but that smooth feel comes with a tradeoff-pad rotation can slow down or stall. With a gear-driven orbital, both pad rotation and oscillation are mechanically driven, which means ZERO pad stalling and consistent correction over flat panels, curves, and contours.

In this class, Mike Phillips will teach techniques for maximizing the versatility of a gear-driven orbital, reducing unnecessary tool changes, and eliminating what Mike calls Brain Drain-constantly monitoring whether the pad is rotating or stalling.

For decades, compounds and polishes have relied on conventional oils and other organic ingredients to suspend abrasive technology, provide lubrication, extend working time, and make residue easier to wipe off. While this approach has worked successfully for generations, advances in ceramic and nanotechnology are creating new ways to correct, refine, and prepare automotive paint.

In this class, Mike Phillips will explore the science behind modern inorganic polishing technology and explain how a ceramic-based carrying agent can perform multiple functions during the paint correction process. These functions include suspending abrasives, providing the slip and lubrication necessary for efficient pad movement, and simultaneously creating a ceramic foundation over the freshly corrected surface. Learn to work smarter, reduce labor, increase profits while creating happy repeat customers.

The rotary polisher is still the KING of serious cutting power and fast, heavy paint correction-but only if you know how to wield it. Modern abrasive and pad technology are helping bring the rotary back. In this class, Mike Phillips will share time-proven techniques for maximizing its cutting and finishing ability.

Some argue a long-stroke orbital can correct paint faster. Maybe on a flat panel-but cars aren't flat. Learn "The Way of the Rotary Polisher" for tackling curves, contours, edges, and complex body panels. Learn techniques for heavy correction, removing sanding marks, first-step polishing, and even jewelling for maximum gloss.

Never fear the rotary polisher-but always respect it. Master the rotary for faster correction, better results, and greater efficiency.

Course Description
Hand wet sanding is the time-proven method for leveling orange peel, but it's messy, labor-intensive, and requires skill. Machine damp sanding has its place, but foam-backed discs tend to follow surface texture rather than aggressively flatten it.

Machine dry sanding offers another approach. In this class, Mike Phillips will demonstrate how modern machine dry sanding technology can quickly and uniformly reduce orange peel while creating a shallow, consistent sanding pattern that's faster and easier to buff out.

You'll learn how selecting the right abrasive, grit, interface, and machine can reduce sanding and buffing time, minimize heat during sanding-mark removal, and help preserve more of the precious paint you're working on.

The result? A flatter, more uniform finish with less mess, less labor, less aggressive buffing, and greater control over the entire process.
