is it worth getting PPF to prevent rock chips? Does it impact the looks? How often does it have to be removed due to rock chips etc?

I use it on all my cars. I had a full front Xpel done last week on a new one.
I spend many hours on the highway…… high speed pebbles cause chips and many of them. 100k miles and my front ends were visually spotted, when I traded at 300k it was ugly. The vehicle I just traded had 280k miles with less then 10 chips thru the PPF in 10 years.

On the flip side if your car has small town usage with not a lot of speed, it might be not needed.

I detail cars for fun, for friends and family, and am envious of how little damage some of them have just putting around there towns.

I might add, The sharp edged salt used in the snow belt is worse then the pebbles that hit you in the desert.

I have ppf on my Toyota Highlander. The front bumper, complete hood ( edges were wrapped), complete front fenders, mirrors and all four door cups. The only place I can tell the film is there is where the fender edges meet the front doors, the fender edge is not wrapped, it ends about 1/4” from edge. The door cups are clearly visible, but look much better than scratches from rings and such.
I had a ceramic coating applied to the entire car, including the PPF film. There was some dried ceramic coating along the fender ppf edge,, and some of the door cup edges.. I used a q-tip to get off.
I have not driven the car much so I don’t know how well the ppf will protect against rock chipping. Having seen the damage done by rocks and etching of clear coat by bird droppings to my other cars, I was determined to do all I could to protect this ( hopefully my last) car.

I just started installing it. I have three year old PPF on the front of my vehicle and it's still smooth. PPF self-heals for the most part. If installed correctly, you won't see any difference unless you do a partial. Then you see the edge across the hood/fenders.
