I don't know what to make of that small orbit difference between 6.8 and 8mm, just makes me wonder whether you'd even notice that, it's not like jumping from 8mm to 15mm or 21mm or 25mm or 27mm...or 30mm. I went back and found a video of Renny talking about it and he mentioned there is a gear-drive polisher with a 5mm orbit, I don't know what tool that is. I guess good for him for surveying the market of forced-rotation and picking what he felt was the best orbit.
