Researching car detailing classes? Look at what you’ll actually TRAIN ON!
Before you invest in a class, look for pictures of the actual training cars. Their condition gives you a firsthand look at the challenges you’ll tackle and the skills you’ll put into practice. I show you our training cars ahead of time so you can see exactly what’s waiting for you. Real cars. Real paint defects. Real hands-on experience. Below are the training cars I’ve confirmed for this class. Scroll down to see detailed pictures documenting each car’s condition before YOU get your hands on it!
Learn how to restore clarity to automotive glass by polishing out wiper scratches and other defects below the surface. You’ll learn how to evaluate the glass and use the appropriate tools, pads, products, and techniques to work safely.
Glass polishing takes time—glass doesn’t buff like car paint! Giving this topic its own Friday session lets you practice the process without rushing through it during our already full Saturday and Sunday schedule. This bonus class is FREE for students enrolled in the two-day detailing class. Attendance is optional, but if you’d like to join us, plan your travel so you can be here on Friday!
Training Car: To Be Announced
Pictures of the car and close-ups showing the scratches in the glass will be added here once the training car is confirmed.
Topic 1 — Show Car Detailing: Multiple-Step Paint Correction, Starting with Rotary Polishers
The FIRST tool you’ll learn to use, first thing Saturday morning, is the ROTARY POLISHER!
You’ll start with proper pad selection, tool control, and technique as you learn how to remove paint defects using a rotary polisher. Then you’ll switch to gear-driven orbital polishers to refine the finish and create the clarity, gloss, and shine that make a show car stand out.
New to rotary polishers? That’s what this class is for! I’ll guide you through the process so you can build confidence through actual hands-on practice. And the skills you learn here carry forward to Sunday, when you’ll use rotary polishers to remove sanding marks.
No chairs. ZERO sitting. We get to work at 7:30 a.m.!
Topic 2 — Two-Step Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating: Starting with Gear-Driven Orbital Polishers
For the second set of training cars, you’ll get hands-on experience with GEAR-DRIVEN orbital polishers! You’ll learn a two-step paint correction process: first, compounding to remove paint defects; then, polishing to refine the finish and maximize clarity, gloss, and shine. After correcting the paint, you’ll learn how to install a ceramic coating.
We have gear-driven orbital polishers from FLEX, Harbor Freight, Dynabrade, Makita, and RUPES for you to test out. Try different tools, feel how they handle, and discover which ones YOU like best.
You’ll also learn how to choose pads and products, control your arm speed and pressure, and work a section of paint thoroughly before moving on. Reading about a polisher is one thing. Using it to transform the paint on a real car? That’s how you build skills and make an informed decision about the tools you want in your own shop!

Topic 3 — One-Step Ceramic AIO: Budget Detailing & Daily Driver Detailing
For our THIRD major topic on Saturday, you’ll learn how to improve gloss, reduce paint defects, and add ceramic protection using a one-step Ceramic AIO—all-in-one product.
This is a practical approach for daily drivers and customers looking for a noticeable improvement without the time and expense of a multiple-step paint correction process. You’ll learn how to set realistic expectations and balance results with the time invested.
Now YOU choose the polisher!
For this third topic of the day, you can choose free-spinning random orbital polishers—both long-stroke and short-stroke options—or gear-driven orbital polishers. You’re welcome and encouraged to try both!
By this point, you’ll already have plenty of hands-on experience with gear-driven orbitals. This is your chance to try free-spinning random orbital polishers, revisit the gear-driven tools, and compare how they perform.
We have over $50,000 worth of polishers in the training garage for you to test-drive during class!
Try tools from Griot’s Garage and Harbor Freight, plus corded and cordless options from FLEX and RUPES. Compare how they handle, put your new skills to work, and discover which polisher YOU like best.
Use them on real cars, see the results for yourself, and make up your own mind!
On Sunday, you’ll learn how to take a fresh paint job with orange peel through a complete sanding, paint correction, and ceramic coating process!
The goal is to level the paint’s texture and create sharper reflections while preserving as much paint as possible. You’ll learn how to evaluate the finish, protect edges and surrounding surfaces, and work carefully through each step.
Here’s the process you’ll learn and practice:
This is your opportunity to build a foundation in sanding and buffing through hands-on experience on a real car.
Sunday’s Sanding & Buffing Training Car: To Be Announced
Pictures of the car and close-ups showing the paint’s condition will be added here once the training car is confirmed.
