Great tip, as most would not think about this/ Sometimes I think I'm getting too OCD, picky, etc. But it's..... all in the details. Thx.

The tape line is great if a person needs to create a dramatic before and after, it just comes with risks. If you're trying to get that perfect picture of swirls - before and after - then you need to either buff on the tape line or damn close. And the result can be a line that cannot be removed.

I polished the paint in the picture below, it was on a fancy Mercedes-Benz AMG Bi-Turbo something-or-rather. And left a faint tape-line I was unable to remove, even after light machine damp sanding using 3M Trizact.
