Saturday Sanding Cars

Here are the training cars for the SECOND day of this 2-day class.

1968 Camaro - Custom repaint - basecoat/clearcoat - lots of Orange Peel
Note: I'm working on getting some better pictures as soon as the owner can drive the car over to the Dr. Beasley's shop.

1962 Chevy Biscayne Pro Street

I have confirmed we can use this 1962 Chevy Biscayne Pro Street for the sanding class on Saturday at the American Muscle Car Museum.

Second time around
My September class actually detailed this car but only to remove the holograms. This along with the Starsky & Hutch car were both used for the class to learn how to do 1-step Ceramic AIO paint correction.

1-Step Ceramic AIO Paint Correction
This means, besides washing and claying, they only did ONE STEP to detail this car. The result were phenomenal, but there's still Orange Peel and buffing doesn't remove Orange Peel. The issue is, I'll need to get it from Stuart, Florida to Melbourne, Florida either by trailer or driving it myself.

See pictures of this car here!

***Update March 3rd 2025***

Friday Paint Correction and Ceramic Coatings
So this last Monday, I drove from Stuart, Florida, (where Dr. Beasley's is located), to Melbourne, Florida to view some cars in a private collection. I'm happy to say, I was able to get the permission from the owner, Jacob, to use 3 of his cars for the FIRST day of this 2-day class. The first day will be intensely focused on doing paint correction and ceramic coating.

Friday Morning Session
Jason Rose and I will be teaching a multiple-step or show car garage detailing process to the below cars. You will be using, learning and training with the entire arsenal of RUPES polishers, pads and products.

I took the time to capture accurate pictures that show you the current condition of the paint on these cars and as you can see, the paint on all the cars are totally swirled-out, filled with scratches, oxidation and stains. In my opinion, these will make GREAT training cars as we teach you how to take these diamonds-in-the-rough and turn them into glistening gemstones.

1950 Chevy Pickup Streetrod
This has a custom basecoat/clearcoat paint job, modern running gear and looks to be a really nice build except the paint is in dire need of paint correction.

I'll be washing and claying the paint on all these cars the week before the class.

1972 Cadillac Eldorado
Like the other cars, this has a custom basecoat/clearcoat paint job and it's in HORIBLE shape.

Thin Paint
During the class you'll have the opportunity to use multiple Paint Thickness Gauges like this Defelesko PosiTest DFT

Friday Afternoon Session
After learning how to do show car detailing, next the class will learn how to do one-step paint correction and ceramic coatings. For this class session, we have 2 more cars in horrible condition as my experience has shown me over the decades that this makes for the best learning experience.

1961 Impala SS Bubbletop 348 Big Block Chevy
This was the first year for the SS model so that makes this car very rare and desirable. It also has the first big block Chevy introduced, the 348 Chevy Big Block. So super cool TRAINING car.

It was difficult to get great pictures of this car because it's surrounded by other cars in the collection. You can see it's covered in years of dust and the paint is filled with swirls, scratches and oxidation.

You can easily identify early big block Chevy engines by the unique design of the valve covers.

Winner - 3-1-1992 - Chevy Vettefest, Chicago - Gold Spinner Concourse Award.
This car was judged to be 95 to 100% Original Factory Condition.

1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL V12
I don't know a lot about these cars, but I was told that back when they were new, this was a very expensive luxury touring car. This car was donated to the American Muscle Car Museum and they have generously made it available for our class. This car has the original factory basecoat/clearcoat paint system and it's in absolutely horrible shape. The paint is not only completely swirled-out, but it also has a lot of staining.

Lots of staining taking place to the paint.

Test Spot
I did a quick test spot using a cordless RUPES Random orbital polisher – Bigfoot HLR15 iBRID with a RUPES yellow foam polishing pad and Dr. Beasley's NSP Z1, which is a 1-step Ceramic AIO.

AFTER - Not bad for a 1-step and 27 seconds of polishing!

The vintage factory basecoat/clearcoat paint is thin. This car and thus this paint is 33 years old. I'm confident this class will restore a fresh, swirl-free finish.

Rhopoint Detailometer
I brought my Detailometer and took some measurements on the paint. I'll have this tool at the class for the students to use themselves and we will take before and after measurements on all cars.

See what you're training on BEFORE you sign-up for the class!
Just throwing this out there, but everyone that knows me and knows how I work, I ALWAYS show you the training cars and the training boats for all my classes BEFORE you sign-up and pay for the class. No demo hoods, test panels or rental cars. Instead, you get real-world training on real-world cars, and I show you ahead of time.
