I have what appears to be adhesive tape from a previous wheel balance job on the barrel of one of my wheels. The tape is kinda thick, and white. My wheels are black ( factory finish) and the white really stands out. Any ideas on how to safely remove this?
Thanks!

Use a plastic razor blade and adhesive remover. Spray area and let it sit for a bit, then start with the razor blade on a corner and slowly remove. You may need to spray more remover as you go. This has worked for me over the years. The key is to take your time.

Tedious task I'm not looking forward to when I get new tires but a necessity

Good advice that should work.

I would probably scrape off as much of the foam adhesive strip first to make it easier for the adhesive remover to do its job.

Also - for really stubborn adhesive, try heating with a Heat Gun.
